First I checked my registration, and I have been registered to vote for decades, both online and calling the state.

My mom runs elections in her district. As we get close to an election and right after we chat 24x7 about the process. How many people voted. You name it.

Now I know most people can't get this, but in the past few weeks months we've talked about voter ID. We don't have this in my state.

I asked her if she ever asked for an ID. She said three times in five years, all cause of a change of an address. I asked why. She said:

Well I know all the people that vote. I know their names. What they look like. If somebody tried to come in and say they were "Jane Smith" well I went to school with "Jane Smith" and you are not "Jane Smith."
Guess you can't do that in a large metro area :).

When opportunity calls pick up the phone and give it directions to your house.

website every primary and election too, just because I'm paranoid ever since they "lost" my daughter in 2000. After she'd voted in every primary and election since 1992. She refused to leave without voting just because of THEIR bullshit mistake. So the state supervisor in Raleigh went through the books and found a pre-1800 law designed for 'primitives' in the frontier area of the state that allowed same-day registration. Now same-day registration is open to all!

Sometimes not backing down does a bit of good for everybody.
