  •  Wow! (11+ / 0-)

I live part time in NC but do not vote there.  I just looked at my NC county and there are some amazing things I see just for my little area.  First, minority population country wide is very low, well under 10% but new registrations of minorities are very high.  That is a great sign.  Secondly, the % of new registrations that are Democrat is great.  I was once told by someone in the local Democratic party that registrations in this county were fairly equal between Dems and Reps.  So the significant increase in the % of Dems of new registrations is great.

I personally have witnessed some shifts here locally in the most recent election.  All contested seats on the city commission went to Dems and the most liberal Dem. candidate for the House of Representatives won a plurality in my county. Unfortunately he did not get the nomination which went to a more conservative Dem who carried other counties in the district.  But it did show me that Dems in my county are working very hard to move the party toward more progressive candidates.

I hope that NC continues to trend to the President.  It would be icing on the cake if Obama/Biden could once again carry NC.
