  •  Early voting is important for Democrats in a way (14+ / 0-)

That it isn't for Republicans.  First, a lot of Democrats live in densely populated areas.  Early voting can help reduce the impact of long lines, delays and voter suppression tactics.  It allows us tooptimize our turnout per precinct.  The second reason why early voting is critical for Democrats is because all the polls indicate that we have more unlikely voters than the GOP.  Early voting gives us more opportunities to bank unlikely voters and that completely changes the polls and calculus of both parties. It seems that in Ohio, IA, FL and NV we are executing an effective early vote strategy which suggests that we will overperform our poll numbers.  They key now is how we perform among indies. That will tell us whether or not we'll have easy wins on election day in the key states.

early voting is that there are a lot of their base, old wealthy white people, who like it too. One day voting means long lines---worse in inclement weather---and there is nothing old rich white people hate more than waiting for anything.  Just ask any waitress who works Early Bird hours. Now of course they can vote Absentee, but with Post Office's closing down and hours being cut, that is making it more of a hassle, too.

    •  The other advantage to early voting in NC (0+ / 0-)

is that voters can register at the same time. Voters who have moved into the state - or just across town - can update their registration and vote at the same time.

And no bullshit about voting in the wrong precinct, either. A voter can vote at whichever site is convenient in the county where they live.

All these conveniences disappear come Election Day, so it's even more important to GOTV now.
