  •  We're better than this! (5+ / 0-)

Or at least I hoped we were.  There are myriad reasons to vote against Mitt Romney, but they involve his politics and his obvious sense of entitlement.  They do NOT include his mental stability.  Do we seriously think that every time somebody is referred to as a "wild and crazy guy," especially in admiring tones, that they're mentally unstable?

Diaries like this belong in the cesspool of "Obama is a Muslim and a Communist."

    •  You are an asshole of the flaming asshole variety. (17+ / 0-)

I have a mental illness. I have spent a lot of time with crazy people and I am trained in psychology and counseling. I have a lot of juicy friends who are peculiar and/or crazy. I am an expert on crazy and/or brain damaged. There is something wrong with Mitt Romney.

Remove your hide rating. You hide rated for disagreement which is unacceptable.

    •  One reason pathological liars get away with (10+ / 0-)

Their habitual perversion of the truth is because the lie is insulting and, in the interest of self-defense, people reject the lie with the rationalization they must have been mistaken. People would rather be wrong than dissed.
Also, we assume the lie is intentional, that the prevarication has a self-serving purpose. That's not necessarily correct. The impulse to pervert the truth and subvert may become habitual to the point where purpose is out the window and the person actually injures himself in lying. This, unfortunately adds to the confusion because the observer assumes that, if the person injures himself, he must be telling the truth.
Whatever.  Willard is covering something up and his family is perhaps trying to construct a gentle escape route. There have been lots of mad kings whose courtiers simply ignored their ravings. Ronald Reagan suffered from incipient Alzheimer's in his second term and we survived that. The corporate structure is such that the head position is a sort of fail-safe, but if it fails, the body just ignores it. But, having elected heads of state is supposed to enable us to avoid the madness that royal DNA can foist on a population.

We organize governments to provide benefits and prevent abuse.

    •  Please remove your HR. (10+ / 0-)

The diarist has broken no rules, other than your rule about expressing a view you disagree with. Your HR is unwarranted. Please remove it.

Based on what I've heard ann romney and their kids say on video about mitt-frontations and the like, I think dick romney has serious anger management problems, which cast a serious doubt on his ability to govern. After all, you don't want a guy who repeatedly says shit off the top of his head -- only to have it walked back by his associates a few hours later -- calling the shots.

The diarist is right. You're wrong. That's my opinion.

BTW, here's my relevant contribution from a few months ago:

      •  Excellent video (0+ / 0-)

And thank you. I'm not the one who said Willard needs a little "mom time" for stability. If you don't think that's a little disconcerting, then your version of presidential character is far different than mine.

    •  I totally disagree (7+ / 0-)

We know Obama isn't a Muslim or Communist. Those are known truths. Now imagine if Michelle Obama went on national TV, and started voicing concerns about Obama's mental well-being. The banshee screams from the right would be 24/7, nonstop. Fox would be streaming her words, 24/7, nonstop, and it would be the end of Obama's presidency. The last video clip I used of Ann Romney, was anything BUT in an admiring tone. She showed true concern for her husband's mental well-being.

When a presidential candidate and his family display so many symptoms of dysfunction and abnormal behavior, it becomes fair game in the political arena.  I think it's imperative we at least consider what his family is trying to tell us. Especially if the candidate is trying to resurrect the Cold War and promotes further wars in the Middle East.

I used the red phone for a purpose. Should God forbid, Romney makes it to the White House and he gets that 3:00 AM call, how do you feel about Ann standing by as his "stabilizer?" If he is acting deranged on the campaign trail, how do you suppose he'll be able to handle the pressures of a presidency?
