    Sun Valley Mall, Concord, CA.
I was a big fan of his even then. he packed the place, maybe 10,000 people in a mall that would now be considered only medium sized.
He was coming down the line shaking hands but he missed me so I ran down the line and sook his hand when he came by.
the only presidential candidate whose hand I ever shook and I am proud it was his. He was the best Democratic presidentiaal candidate in my lifetime---a true liberal that gave pride to the word. I was a McGovern liberal since my first vote and I'm STILL a McGovern liberal.

'72 was the first time I could vote, age 23. As you point out, they only had just changed that law. So I wasn't old enough to vote (or drink) during the '68 election despite having spent a year in Vietnam.
I'm glad McGovern was my first vote now, I never liked Hubert Humphrey

    Happy just to be alive
