  •  There will be no Moderate Mitt. (10+ / 0-)

Paul Ryan will see to that.

Any continued recovery will be strangled by the coming tax breaks for the wealthy coupled with the middle class tax hikes.

The Republican Party is now the sworn enemy of the United States of America.

Ryan was brought in to appeal the to the base, that's all. Mitt is a moderate. He just says a bunch of ulta-conservative stuff (sometimes) to get the base excited and to get votes. Then he says more moderate stuff (sometimes) to get the swing votes.

He says ANYTHING to get voted into office, but when you look at his moral and governing history, he'll be a Republican that other Republicans will love to hate, but because he has that R next to his name, they will support him all the way through.

Don't fool yourself... he knows that if he wins he's set up to take credit of an economic recovery and surely won't do anything drastic to stop that from happening.

      •  Mitt's not moderate... (7+ / 0-)

I agree he'll say anything to get elected, but his set point is way out there in right wingnuttia.

      •  He is a major war hawk with Bush's foreign policy (6+ / 0-)

advisors and a teabagger House of Representatives. He will do whatever the Republicans in the House want him to do and whatever Rove and the Bush policy team tell him to do. Remember Mitt is heavily inlfuenced on foreign policy by the Bolton and the Bush people.

          Remember that?

So yeah I agree, his little nest of neocons will be looking to start another war, and Iran fits the bill perfectly.

Plus it would be a windfall to oil companies, when the Strait of Hormuz gets blocked with a couple of sunken ships, and the price of gasoline goes to $8 a gallon.

We have to not only win this election, we have to win it with a mandate.  This really is the turning point to the future, one way, or the other.

"Minus two votes for the Republican" equals "plus one vote for the Democrat." Arithmetic doesn't care about their feelings either!

      •  except for one thing: if he wins, the moment he... (6+ / 0-)

.... gets into the White House he will be thinking 2016.

And he will be thinking of appealing to his base.

And that means he will go whole-hog for the entire extreme right social agenda.

What could possibly top getting Bin Laden, with his base?

        How'bout getting Roe.

For decades the Republicans have held out Roe as a carrot to their base.  This time they will have to come through.

        Mark my words.

And this battle is not over yet.

That's head-in-the-sand to me. It's like saying, gee, Romney wouldn't be so bad, and that is exactly what we are fighting right now. He is completely beholden to the big money of extremists — and you really think he's not going to do exactly what they want? Plus they will dismantle the election machinery, making it almost impossible for us to beat Paul Ryan in 2020, not matter how unpopular they are, or how ravaged the economy is.

      •  I disagree with you... (0+ / 0-)

If Willard get elected he might try to be somewhat moderate but will be forced to sign on the the rightwing radicals agenda because he will immediately be running for re-election.  He will have too prove he is one of them.  He has no choice, unless he only wants to be a 1 term President.  Which I highly doubt.  I don't think the man has any standards or principles except how he can make more money and not pay any taxes on it.

      •  Mitt is not moderate (1+ / 0-)
        Recommended by:

any more than he is conservative or progressive, all of which he has claimed to be at some time or another.

Mitt is self interested. Period. What is good for Mitt, he will do. He is not interested in what is good for this country, only what is good for him.

That's why he keeps his finances so opaque, so we can't see what his motivations are. We know he is already betting against the recovery of the American economy (link upthread), and we can only wonder what other financial angles he is playing.
