  •  Crows are very smart (13+ / 0-)

    They CAN in fact, recognize individual human beings -- they remember who feeds them, and where.   :-)  

    If you see a small group of crows together during the day, they are most likely a family group.  

    I've also read reports of crows playing jokes on one another (One crow discovered if it dropped an acorn when a fellow crow wasn't expecting it, the other crow JUMPED -- so the crow repeated the trick, just to get the other crow to jump again!)

    There are a number of really cool videos on YouTube showing crows solving puzzles and using tools, too. Smart birds!  

    •  They also pass on learned information to (5+ / 0-)

      their young, who act on that learned information even though they've never experienced the situation themselves.  They're one of the only animals on the planet besides humans to do that.  

      They also are capable of using a tool to obtain a second tool to use to obtain food.  Amazing.
