  •  as a former poll worker (14+ / 0-)

I used to be an election clerk & judge - in my slacker days it was one of many temp jobs I had off & on to keep things together.

Anyway, I'm appalled at this person's attitude. We were always told to welcome every voter. Even if there appears to be something wrong - which wasn't even the case here, the election worker is there to facilitate this process. Everything about this, from beginning to end, is just...... I'm offended to share the title "election worker" (even if that isn't something I currently do) with this person, she should never be allowed in a polling place other than to cast her own ballot.

I'd always have the Town Clerk and the County BoE on speed dial so if there was a problem that we couldn't clear up right there at the desk, I'd dial up, explain in brief what the problem seemed to be, and then hand the phone to the voter so they could give a detailed explanation of what the problem was. Very rarely was someone not allowed to vote at all, and usually if they weren't, it was because they hadn't registered in time.
