They have a strong effort together, they are part of the Three Affiliated, and Heitkamp's Native advisor is a member of the Three Affiliated, so they are supportive as are 80% plus of the other Natives in the State.

They have had early vote activities across the State with all the Tribes.  It just needs to continue and be encouraged....

    Every vote will count...

    •  If Natives can decide another senate race... (4+ / 0-)

We put Sen. Tim Johnson (SD) back in 2004, Sen. Tester (MT) in 2006, and Sen Maria Cantwell (WA) as well as Patty Murray (WA) we need to flex our muscles and get every vote we can in ND to elect a senator that represents our needs and who is concerned enough that she hires a Native American advisor...
It would be a shame to lose this by 500 votes or less, so we need to make sure our grassroots people have the resources necessary to get early voters out as well as make sure every door is knocked on!

      •  Correction - Tim Johnson in 2002 (4+ / 0-)

It was the 02 Race vs. John Thune that Tim won by 532 votes.  It was the votes in Shannon County on the Pine Ridge Reservation that he received 80% plus of the vote and turned a several thousand vote deficit into a 532 vote victory.

Shannon county in South Dakota, is the biggest Democratic stronghold in the country, in 2004 John Kerry received 85% of the vote, and President Obama receiving 88.69% of the Vote.

    •  Thanks. (3+ / 0-)

My neighbor when I was a kid was a member of the Mandan tribe, and when I was 10, he took me with him to visit his relatives there.  I will never forget it, or him.  We all called him "Grandpa", and brought him into our family as much as he would allow.

I am not religious, and did NOT say I enjoyed sects.

spent their first winter with the Mandans, then headed west when spring came.

But the angle said to them, "Do not be Alfred. A sailor has been born to you"
