  •  All the traditional media's analysis of... (16+ / 0-)

...who "won" the debate and whose policy ideas made the most sense is such a waste of everyone's time.

What Romney said was pure horseshit. Incoherent half the time, he sounded for all the world like a student who hadn't attended sessions of his senior seminar all semester and showed up thinking he could fake his way through his oral presentation.

A 9th grader would have gotten a D for that performance.

    •  I completely agree. There's no winning or losing (4+ / 0-)

per se in this type of debate. The candidates are either exposed for fools or show that they can perform well under those constraints. What they say is rarely helpful. Though I do think Romney's soulless pandering for votes could have enlightened some potential voters about his character. Though we've mocked him and the pundits treated it like a "gaffe", Romney's comments about Syria being Iran's path to the sea was pretty frightening in its ignorance.  And there is no way it was a slip of the tongue. It was said in the context of analyzing two potential allies against US interests in the region. And it was offered to substantiate his opinion about the state of US interests there. How terrifying to have a President who analyzes foreign affairs based on faulty knowledge of geography. Except that you are right and it was all complete and utter BS--not intended to be any kind of policy statement. Only intended to sound like what he thinks people think Presidential foreign policy should sound. What a complete and utter fraud.

I think it was worse than that even Meteor Blades.

Because we now look to the "performance" as the metric of success or failure during these Kubuti Dances titled debates,  Romney does not even have to sound like a reasoned human, he only has to look and act like one.  Which I think best explains why he "looked and acted" well reasoned and even tempered despite the fact that his actions prove beyond a doubt that he is a top-down authoritarian CEO prick.

His language, attitude and behavior prove that he does have the ability to be well-reasoned or compromising and empathetic with Americans in general let alone someone who does not have similar thoughts and opinions.
