  •  This is a power-grab by the White House (4.00)
We are watching the Republicans centralize control of the government in the White House while neutering the Senate as an independent body of government.

    McClelland said

In terms of the Constitution, the role of the President is to appoint qualified individuals to the bench. The role of the Senate is to provide their advice and consent. It's not to provide advice and block.

Pure lying spin. The President has the power to nominate Ambassadors and Judges only. He does NOT have the power to appoint them. See my diary on the subject for the details.

This is an effort to take power to act independently away from the Senate. That power was designed to be a check on the power of the President. It is the first serious effort in two centuries to make the President the only powerful branch of government, supported by a hand picked Judiciary and cheered on by a supine Senate and mob-controlled House. ["Mob" in the traditional sense as used by those who wrote the Constitution.]

It is as though the English Parliament were to hand power back to the Queen.

I wonder what the next element of the Constitution they will try to dismantle is? This is nothing less than Treason by people who swore to uphold and defend the Constitution.
