    as used in WWI created a lot of dog food out of the horses and mules and pretty much made calvary useless. By WWII tanks had become advanced enough to outpace even horse regiments.
    In the most rugged mountains, surefooted animals will always make more sense than rolling stock. That's why the Andeans never invented the wheel.

    You can't make this stuff up.
