    As much as I despise the tali-can's assault on any form of fundamental civil liberty, including the right of reproductive choice ...

    my read of their "taxpayer" funding argument is more about the fungible nature of money and the indirect ability it provides to move other "safe money" into abortion services -- and not that taxpayer money is used directly.  

    The same extreme result may be the one and the same: no abortions are permitted, but perhaps the better attack on this argument is that it represents an extreme extension of existing law where no taxpayer money is available for any purpose however remotely connected with the delivery of abortion services.  This essentially requires no established relationship whatsoever, which is well beyond that required of the existing and entirely misguided "Hyde Amendment."
