  •  It's the "feebleness of privilege." (6+ / 0-)

There are always two - numerically unequal - groups in any aristocracy: The minority of honorable and intelligent people committed to a sense of "noblesse oblige" where they try to justify their privileges by pursuing excellence and generosity; and then the degenerate majority of the privileged who just wallow like pigs and are so protected from the consequences of their actions that they believe themselves to be superhuman.  JFK and his brothers were examples of the former, while pretty much every Republican of note today is an example of the latter.

Republicans literally do not believe they have to know or accomplish anything - all they need are their desires and an attitude of lazy contempt for all of humanity.  Someone else will accomplish things, and they'll take the credit; someone else will also take the blame for their crimes and fuckups.  The believe it is their natural right to Rule others, and that no justification of merit or accountability for results can possibly apply to them.

    Voter suppression is treason.

and it's remarkable how many times through history the latter has been overwhelmed by the masses of serfs furious with the place into which they've been forced.

The former is a demographic we sorely need to increase. But as it is said, those who have do seem to get. More's the pity.
