When changing demographics flip Texas (probably still a decade away), the electoral college will make it virtually impossible for a Republican to be elected President.

    •  I don't like that system, even if it benefits us (0+ / 0-)

We don't go around trying to purge Republicans from the voter rolls for no reason.

In the same way, I don't want to game the system so that it's rigged for progressives to win, even though it would probably be good for America.

That's our biggest weakness. We're like Batman and the Republicans are the Joker. Just like the Joker can kill anyone he wants to get ahead and Batman refuses to do so, the Republicans don't care who they hurt or what they destroy as long as they win. We actually care.

To continue the Batman analogy - the reason he doesn't kill is because he knows that if he allows himself to kill ONE TIME, it would be too easy to go around killing everyone from then on because he's already justified it.

If we say "we'll just set up the system so Dems can't lose," a lot of bad things can happen. Imagine what those Timonthy McVeigh lunatics might try if they realize they can NEVER win an election.

When we stop putting leaders from the past up on pedestals and ignoring their flaws, we can start seeing our present leaders for what they really are.

we could incapacitate McVeigh lunatics preemptively, no?  I don't see the advantage of giving fraudsters & bigots a seat at any table, let alone our government.
