along with serious political activism. There is nothing wrong with that.

My point is that the numbers here may auger well for Markos' bank account, but ti doesn't necessarily say much about the vitality and significance of the site or the netroots.

When you see all these diaries that look the same -- Most rec list diaries fall into 3 categories:  either praising Obama, or carping about the polls, or the real favorites -- the "gotcha" diaries where we all salivate and celebrate how much smarter we are than the dumb Republican who said something stooped, or the corrupt reporter/newspaper/network who wrote/published/aired the obviously biased and ignorant column/story.

It gets old...and most people outside this community tune out that noise, because they have more sense.

isn't all about quickly-scrolling diaries that say nothing new. I don't even begin to read what's in the righthand column until I have gone through the FPer's stuff. Above it all, DK is a news source and a clearing house for new information. There are a few other sources I go to for this as well as DK, but I do always come to DK.

The progressive caucus is expanding, the blue dog caucus is dead or dying, the President is winning and, for better or worse, the melding of grassroots and netroots has been professionalized.

It doesn't always feel as exciting as it did when we were the scrappy underdogs being attacked from all sides, but our success is verifiable, even beyond Markos's bank account (which would probably be a lot bigger if he didn't almost single-handily keep PPP funded).
