  •  some engineering curriculae thse days (4+ / 0-)

have become super tech schools with few electives outside the engineering classes. My father, a retired rocket scientist, went to work for a NASA contractor after retirement. He found young engineers rushing off to do two months of analysis when he could answer the problem in a few calculations. The good news is the trend towards engineering schools in liberal arts and research institutions with a much stronger emphasis in a well- rounded education. My daughter is looking at Carnegie Mellon and Harvey Mudd, to name a few. I'm a space grant engineer, myself, but I am fully behind the infusion of Liberal Arts into the tech fields.
