    from New Jersey in 1893 to western Pennsylvania, absorbed into megacorporate America mid-50s and now disappeared. It was the inventor of the zipper and first manufacturer.

    In its heyday, it employed blind assembly-line workers as final quality inspectors because they could feel imperfections that sighted workers might miss.
