And thank you for your comments. I do love a lively discussion. It's frustrating however, when folks don't read the entire post or read things in that were never there, like the woman who decided to be offended by something I didn't even write "Indoctrination by men".

I'm a woman with a great deal of personal experience and education on the topic of religious extremism and it's suppressing effects on women, men and children. The idea of people being suppressed and manipulated by their religion is a disturbing one, but none the less, it happens. It's naive to think that human beings are not effected by their surroundings, community and circumstances.

I care for my mother who is profoundly handicapped and elderly, I also have 3 boys and a business to run. We just recently had a family assistant leave because her father made her quit, because we were not evangelical Christians and he didn't want his 20 year old daughter to be influenced by our "lifestyle", which is about as normal and vanilla as you can get. This is a grown woman. She was happy working with us. We never discussed religion or politics with her. This was her first job. She was home schooled her entire life and besides going to church, she never left the house but to come and work with us. We loved her and she us. But, she left even though she didn't want to, for fear of her Father.

"Today we say all art is political. But I'd say all art has to do with ethics. Which after all really comes to the same thing. It's a matter of attitudes." ~Ingmar Bergman
