  •  Question for the lawyers (none)
Is it possible to form a FOIA request on the people enlisted in the military who have:

    1. Served in theater in Iraq.
    2. Died within 3 months of ending that service.

I think that would get us a good number if we believe there has been exaggeration.

Or are casualties "not from combat" outside the FOIA zone?

I knew Ted Hitler. Ted Hitler was a friend of mine. Ted Hitler ate my panda. You're no Ted Hitler.

    •  Under FOIA (none)
You can only request copies of actual documents that are already in existence.  You cannot compel them to answer a question or to create a document just for purposes of answering your question.
      •  So to take it further (none)
There must be a document for every death whether KIA, from wounds, during chidlbirth, from heart attack, or whatever other cause in the military, right?  How do we go about acquiring those?

        •  That's a good question (none)
I'm not really a FOIA expert, so I defer.  I suspect there are exceptions to FOIA that protect medical records and the like from disclosure, however.

Anyway, assuming for the sake of argument that there's a massive government conspiracy to cover up thousands of deaths, I don't know that it's going to be sniffed out with a simple FOIA request.
