  •  You cannot really look at how the popular (8+ / 0-)

vote numbers come out this election and say that they'd be the same if it was based on the popular vote rather than the electoral college.

The campaigns would have been run very differently with ad money being spent in a totally different manner, etc.

It is time to get rid of the electoral college and make everyone's vote count.    The biggest problem I have with the electoral college is that it makes some people's votes count more than others.   Everyone's vote should count the same.

it would be a great opportunity to get Republicans to agree to a Constitutional amendment abolishing the EC.  Their masters would see through the ruse, but the tea-ons might be too angry about an Obama victory to obey orders.

      Voter suppression is treason.

      •  You don't need Republicans to agree to this... (0+ / 0-)

you need small states to agree to this.  Good luck.

        •  You need neither a Constitutional Amendment (0+ / 0-)

nor small states.    There is already an effort underway and it is half-way there and all you need is enough states to join where the total of the states electoral votes is 270 or greater.

It is called the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact (NPVIC).   Google it.
