    It was complicated. I was with him, watching, when Jack Ruby shot Lee Harvey Oswald on live TV. I don't think my father really wanted to know who had killed him. I don't think he believed Johnson was much of an improvement, either. There were so many opportunities to exercise paranoia in the wake of Kennedy's assassination, my father almost went into overload.

      What I was looking for was whether he expressed satisfaction, guilt, or something else.  From what you said it sounds as if he just got more paranoid.  

      More to be said about all of this but I have to scoot for a few hours.  

      Sorry to hear about all that happened to you, but by putting it in writing here, you're giving others a basis for strength if they or anyone they know has been through anything similar.  

      "Minus two votes for the Republican" equals "plus one vote for the Democrat." Arithmetic doesn't care about their feelings either!
