  •  How quickly do NiMh batteries lose their charge? (5+ / 0-)

I need to recharge a bunch of batteries, but am afraid that if I do it today they'll lose enough of their charge by the time Sandy hits here (~Tuesday) to make it worth waiting another day or two. What do y'all think?

Also, what about portable car chargers with built-in lead acid batteries? How long do they hold their charge and should I wait to fill mine up?

Finally, people who have spare UPS's lying around should make sure that they're plugged in and charged, even if they're not being used right now. They might only have enough power to run a desktop computer for 10 minutes or so, but they have plenty of juice to power smaller devices like cell phones, tablets or laptops.

      community!

      congratulations, kovie.  :)

Great suggestions about the USPs.  Wishing I hadn't ditched my old one once it wasn't reliable enough for the computer any more.

for others to salvage) when I moved, since it was getting kind of old and wasn't compatible with my PFC power supply. Kind of wish I hadn't since I now realize it could have been used to power other stuff in an outage. Hopefully someone else is enjoying it now. As for the NiMh, I'll wait another day.

          at my local dump.

Years ago.  Definitely gone now.  ;)

Don't know a blessed thing about NiMh's.  I guess google was no help at all?

What about trying to reach the manufacturer?
