    I was just reading about this newspaper on Wikipedia and it says this:

    In 1985, faced with declining circulation and revenues, the Cowles family sold off its various properties to different owners, with the Register going to Gannett.
    I read the rest of the article to see if there were further changes of ownership after that, but I see none listed. So it seems from this article they have been owned by Gannet since long (very long) before 2008. And therefore that is unlikely to be the reason for their endorsement of Mittens. Unless you mean there were new people put in charge at lower level of management since 2008? Do you have further information on this that you can share? Thanks.
