  •  I used to live at Ft Myer (7+ / 0-)

where they stable the caisson horses, and fed carrots to Black Jack (the famous horse from JFK's funeral procession) many times. Back in the day, we'd visit the stables then head across the road to the swimming pool area for the day. Those great long-ago summers!

More recently, Ft Myer allowed people to arrange proper tours of the stables and see the caisson that carried Lincoln and JFK, and down the street there is a full museum of the 3rd Infantry, "The Old Guard", the ceremonial unit that also includes the soldiers that stand watch over the Tomb of the Unkowns. My family found it surprisingly interesting!

Of course these horses now help bury our war dead and veterans - the "Greatest Generation" is being laid to rest daily.

Black Jack passed away some years ago and is now buried in a corner of the parade ground at Ft Myer.

Just random thoughts on a Sunday morning, inspired by the picture.

But it is amazing to me how happily the RW willfully twists anything Obama says to fit their bizarre world view. Proud ignorance has never seen such a heyday. It is amazing. And scary since those buffoons vote.
