      You are right.  

      It has more to do with a lack of ability to understand and empathize with others the consequences of actions.

      What we see as evil is a disconnect of emotions regarding others.  

      Those whom I have known who most would describe as evil  were extremely capable of having and expressing their own  feelings.  Just not for others.

      Regardless of whether you call it "evil", it is a destructive force that is totally self serving.

      for a wide range of self/others-destructive behaviors.  When someone says, "Hitler was evil", most everyone is capable of grasping the bone-chillingly profound meaning that's encapsulated in that one word: evil.  

      "Evil" may be misappropriated at times to describe behaviors that some find abhorrent but aren't inherently harmful, however, I've yet to see that happen among liberals.
