is the point. It is childish to imagine any candidate or politician will please you in all ways. That is not their job, and it is not how our country works.

It is a childish tantrum to not vote because you disagree on a few points but the big picture is clear.

It is selfish to behave in this manner and yes, narcissistic as hell.

To hell with the elders who stand to have their medications cut. To hell with kids and their education. To hell with women who are raped. I didn't get everything I want so I'm staying home.

the son in question doesn't merely disagree with the President on a few points. He sounds like one on the left who has been ignored. Frankly. that's part of the strategy. Play more to the middle and even right-center by ignoring the left, with the belief that the left has nowhere to go and will vote for the President through fear of Romney.

It's a weak strategy, in my opinion, because it's not valid. The President will leak votes on the left. This young man will have to decide if he wants to be completely irrelevant (not voting) or whether he wants to make a statement (3rd party) or if he wants to prevent a Republican victory.

Clearly, in my opinion, some sort of vote is better than no vote. It's up to him what message he wants to send, but he should at least send some message!

But of course, I can't say that to him...he is trying to figure it all out and be true to himself.  He has these conversations with me because...well...because he can.  I can think he is a narcissistic ass and still love him.  I think he also needs/wants to hear a better argument from me...which is why I came here.

Look at the right, many dispise Mitt, but vote for him enthusiastically.  Mitt isn't harmless.  I am willing to say those drones are killing  one millionth of the damage a pro coal administration could do to the world.
