  •  I continue to think that Romney is not only ... (0+ / 0-)

an arrogant, over-privileged prick, with no common touch, but actually an under-performing one.

His reported personal fortune of $250 M is just not that big for the kind of business he's been in for 20+ years. Yeah, it's a lot of money, but a single deal in his world could have netted $30-50 M. Romney is that classic guy born on third who thinks he hit a triple.

Speaking of baseball (yeay, Giants!), Prince Fielder of the World Series-losing Detroit Tigers, has a nine-year, $214 M contract!?!.

Neither he nor Romney is the Master of the Universe he thinks he is.

    •  That was unnecessary (2+ / 0-)

Prince Fielder is an awesome human being (to say nothing of outstanding player) and making the World Series is a big deal, even if you do lose.

If you disagree, give Brian Cashman a call and see if he'd swap places with Detroit.

      •  I didn't mean to disrespect the player ... (0+ / 0-)

I know nothing about Fielder, and I'm not really much of a sports fan, though I have a soft spot for the Giants. I grew up in the Bay Area, and, as a kid, traveling by bus to a few games at Candlestick was an early taste of freedom. The days of Mays, McCovey, Cepeda, Davenport, Marichal ...

The point you seem to have missed is that Romney hopes to ride his personal story of "success" to the White House. I don't find his story at all persuasive. To the contrary, Romney has been extraordinarily fortunate, and lucky.

To choose a "leader" based on personal wealth, why not choose a high-priced baseball player?
