Obama stays in Washington and does an excellent job dealing with the emergency and managing response.

Obama and emergency response stay in the headlines, sweeping away any news of Romney and his whining.

Opinion polling basically stops in enough of the US as to remove it as a source of bias on the part of voters.  (Already some polling companies have said they're going to stop taking polls because the impact of the storm renders the results invalid.)

All of this shifts some votes.

Result: even bigger win a week from Tuesday.

"Minus two votes for the Republican" equals "plus one vote for the Democrat." Arithmetic doesn't care about their feelings either!

that he should do just the opposite. Visit disaster-stricken regions, he should have stayed in Washington to get the economy going.

We've already seen them damn him when he does and damn him when he doesn't.

The furor over Friday's [10.5] job report revealed a political movement that is rooting for American failure, so obsessed with taking down Obama that good news drives its members into a blind rage. -Paul Krugman
