There are a lot of Rs in Texas, and - with Tom DeLay ramrodding the effort - they redistricted in 2003 so the Texas Lege went from 17D/15R to 21R/11D in 2004, and it is taking some work (understatement) to turn it around. The Rs in Texas are no more unprincipled than they are anywhere else, they've just got the power statewide - for now. We're working on it. And it really chaps my ass for some outsider to diss my state on the basis of the actions of our local thugs - not even a bad as Wisconsin or Michigan. Hated on them lately, have you?

Turn your anger at my and other people's perceptions of Texas into rage that helps you fight the Republicans.  Take back your state and build a Texas that America can be proud of for the first time ever.

      Voter suppression is treason.

I grew up in Dallas.  I had a Dallas Morning News paper route.  I once shook hands with Governor George W. Bush, although I never voted for him.  I watched GIANT the other evening with my daughter, because she was born in Dallas.

I love Texas, and that is why I am particularly sensitive to news from home. This article hit a nerve, and I am sure it is not specific to Texas.  This is "True the Vote" in operation, and it will impact this election and discourage would be voters wherever there are Republican partisans working the polls.

We cannot let them get away with this voter suppression and still call ourselves a democracy.
