    Thank you for that.

    However, a bacteriophage, no matter how welcome to curb nasty bacteria, won't be able to clean up other pollutants such as chemical toxins and physical garbage in the Ganges.  So while there may be scientific evidence for the historic belief in the Ganges' purity, that doesn't make the river safe, nor mean it doesn't need cleanup.

    All that being said, while no analogy is perfect, it can still serve its purpose for furthering understanding.

    Thank you for the edifying information!  I found it fascinating and encouraging.
