  •  I see what you mean. And, although it's (0+ / 0-)

    hard, it's important to see how things go when the most partisan, most pure members of the GOP caucus hold the whole country hostage unless they get their way.  How often have we heard that kind of demand from "our" side?  Although they may get a temporary victory, in the end it is a defeat for everybody.  Good legislation is benched, and no progress gets made.

    •  I'm absolutely great with a populist movement (0+ / 0-)

      within the Democratic Party that would mirror the Tea Party in enthusiasm, but culling leadership rarely works in political parties, or governments, etc. We should pick and choose candidates based at least 50% on their ability to win, and an absolute majority in the Senate with a few moderate Dem senators from the heartland is much more palatable than another gridlocked Senate or a Repub majority.
