  •  It's not about Nebraska. It's about the country. (0+ / 0-)

And Kerrey is bad news for the country.

    •  right because he doesn't utterly agree with you (1+ / 0-)

you realize that is the same logic that lead the GOP to where they are right now?

      •  How, exactly, is that the same logic? n/t (0+ / 0-)
        •  look at what you just said (1+ / 0-)

the man doesn't agree with you exactly which in your mind makes him worse then a republican that's the exact same logic that drives the tea party, you're either with us 11000% or you're against us and while  I am sure it's easier to view the world that way it's not really very realistic

          •  Bullshit. Strawman much? n/t (1+ / 0-)

you've got nothing other then what is starting to look like partisan zealotry. I won't tell you I like every policy of Kerrey's I don't, hell no politican exactly represents me but I also take the long view and the big picture. Which means looking at the choices presented and making the best ones.

I'm not going to respond further as this isn't going anywhere so have the last word if you want it

              •  No. You are falsely characterizing what I wrote. (1+ / 0-)

Apparently, your understanding of the big picture is limited. Again.

Number 1, Social Security is not just some minor issue. It is a core issue.

Number 2, having someone who once claimed that entitlements would consume 100% of the federal budget by 2012 is not someone I want representing Democrats on the Sunday talk shows.

I also take the long view and the big picture.
Horse shit. That is exactly what you are NOT doing by fixating on the short-term gain of one senate seat. You are NOT looking at the bigger picture of how someone like Kerrey would shape the debate over earned benefit programs, in comparison with the influence of a nobody like Fischer.

And you are NOT looking at how someone like Kerrey damages the safety net.

                As for this:

you've got nothing other then what is starting to look like partisan zealotry.
You are projecting. You are willing to support someone who, like Alan Simpson, wants to shred the most important social program there is just because of your partisan quest for one seat.
                •  I know I should walk away (1+ / 0-)

but your belligerent arrogance annoys me

                  1. Social Security is AN issue among many and yes it is important but you know you've yet to even prove your concern is justified. Frankly you just asserted it and demanded everyone agree with you belligerently. As I said though EVEN IF you are right (and you've not proven this) there are other issues we could use Kerrey on. I have no patience for purists which is what you are starting to look like

                  2. no evidence offered and you declaring doesn't make it so

                  3. Really? So one junior senator from Neb is going to completely and utterly change the debate and in a negative way? That's absurd and that's the nicest thing I can think of for such a claim

                  4. Really? YOU are the one that wants to get the pitchforks and torches because of an allegation over one issue. The only one projecting here is you and frankly I don't really want anything more to do with you right now so why don't you go vent your spleen else where?

                  good day

                  •  It's not an allegation. It's a fact. (1+ / 0-)

I've linked to it elsewhere. The fact that you don't even know he said that just shows how little you know.

And Kerrey isn't going to be just one junior senator, as you well fucking know. He'll be out there every Sunday on the talk shows pushing his and Alan Simpson's point of view. His plan now, if you've been paying any attention, is to raise the retirement age (which is a benefit cut) as well as to raise the cap.

People like you, who insist on speaking from the standpoint of near-perfect ignorance while assuming a know-it-all attitude, don't get to complain about a lack of civility.

                    •  know it all? (0+ / 0-)

you really are projecting and you responded to me and from the first you've been uncivil, belligerent  and arrogant. I gotta say as first impressions go you've made a hell of a negative one

You need to work on your reading comphrension honestly given that you seem to be responding to some caricature in your head instead of my actual words.

Now I know you need the last word so take it, insult me a little more, persist in your belligerence, reinforce the negative impression I have of you and then please go away.
