I am in scientist mode. I am an MD/PhD student who is doing research. No one is affected by my staying awake. And allnighters are part of the game. As soon as my exp is done by aruond 4 pm today, Im sleeping!

And Im saying this honestly, so don't take it the wrong way because I really appreciate your advice but: my teachers taught me very well, and theyve never taught me anything that would even slightly harm a patient.

Don't think Im a silly kid staying awake for no reason and risking lives. Ive been trained well, and that is nto a testament to me but a testament to my great teachers. Don't worry about my patients, when I have them, they will be taken care of.

Actually, this goes to my first question.  And you are harmed.
And allnighters are part of the game.
And your instructors also must have informed you that sleep is critical to long term memory retention.  That pulling all nighters is actually one of the worst ways to retain information.
my teachers taught me very well, and theyve never taught me anything that would even slightly harm a patient.
This has nothing to do with what they have taught you, but what you have decided to do.

You actually sound quite young.  I know how often I used poor judgment when I was younger and chose not to take care of myself.  Sometimes on deployment, I didn't have a choice but to go on very little sleep for extended periods.  But those were different times, (and in a very different situation than the one you are in).  And it did affect my judgment.

Either way, I pretty sure you won't listen to me.  So, good luck to you and fair winds.

Nothing worth noting at the moment.

      •  Im sorry you misunderstood me (0+ / 0-)

In fact my chance of high BP is very high from all the sugary drinks I have in order to study harder. But that is a temporary situation. I see patients once a month, and I always get good rest before I see them. I am no harm to a patient. But yes of course this is not good for my health.I don't disagree with you.

I just mean to say that if you were my patient, you would be in good hands, and not because of my silly behavior, but because of my teachers.

And you are right my long term potentiation is not going good right now. Having said that, And all med students pull all nighters anyway even though we know its bad for us. Its just how it is. Ask anyone you know. They have pulled at least one all nighter before at least one exam.

I appreciate your advice. But I know all this myself.

And I will not disagree with you that I use poor judgment all the time. But hte people to determine that are my professors and mentors. They understand me. But you don't know me too well you are far away from me. Your advice is appreciated but not necessary.
