Nader was not a one man band cause of our loss in the 2000 election.  The other factors you point out are inarguable.

However, there can be NO doubt that those who voted for Nader hurt the Democratic vote, not the republican vote, in a year where there was no room for it.  And there can be no doubt that if those who voted for Nader, instead voted for Gore, which would have been their second best choice, according to their own ideology, the SCOTUS would never have had an opening to do what they did.

And, the case is easily made that not one of those votes for Ralph Nader did this country a bit of good, but rather in fact, cost this country immeasurably.

Nope. Don't have much patience for ANYONE who would vote 3rd party, Green or not, in this presidential election.  Too important. Consequences of losing too terrible to think about.

voted for Bush in 2000.  How many voted for Nader?

And, one more time: Who actually would've won the Florida vote count if the votes had been counted?

Did Nader stop the vote count?

were actually Dixiecrats who were Democrats because their Daddy and Uncle Ray Bob were.  In other words, Republicans.

        •  Oh, that tired argument again. (0+ / 0-)

By the same token, those Florida "Democrats" who voted for Nader were actually Greenies who were just coming out.

Strange you can't spare a little outrage for a Dixiecrat.  Do you find them more sympathetic?

knew they were voting for someone with an actual chance of winning.  These people knew what they wanted.  I'll bet quite a few of them thought Bush didn't go far enough for them, but they weren't willing to let their concept of "the good" be held hostage to "the perfect".
