that he is not running as a Mormon?

If you love your Church, should you not proudly run as a member?  If I ran for office, I'd proudly run as an Episcopalian.  What's wrong with Mormon?

(I think we know the answer to that - Mormon is a cult, they are not Christians, and do not believe in the same Jesus Christ as Christians believe.)

The Constitution says there shall be no religious test of any kind as a qualification for running for office. So let's leave a candidate's religion completely off the table, and demand instead to get clear statements of a candidate's policies, actions, and beliefs regarding a civil society.

Except for pandering to the adherents of particular religions, there is no reason to run as a proud Episcopalian, Jew, Presbyterian, Buddhist, Mormon, Southern Baptist, Wiccan, Unitarian-Universalist, or anything.

The sooner we get religion out of politics, the better off the country will be.

Note: I'm 68. I don't really expect to see this happen in my lifetime.

Being the single intellectual in a village of 1,100 souls ain't much fun, especially when 1,099 of those don't think you're all that smart.--Lucy Marsden
