    Do people register with parties, or is it just a matter of which caucuses they participated in?  Do you think there was any crossover (Dems going R to participate in the presidential caucuses)?

    •  Yes they register with parties, so it's not like (0+ / 0-)

      Ohio.  There probably were a couple thousand Dems registering to vote in the Republican primary, I'm not sure though.

    •  In Iowa, we can register (0+ / 0-)

      a party or not.  ("Independents" are non-affiliated, no preference, as opposed to the Am. Independent Party.)  When we go to vote or request an absentee ballot, our name is checked off.  (Our early voting is really in-person absentee voting.)  I presume that the ballot request stats come from those checked-off names.  I have no idea how they figure out who has actually returned absentee ballots in the mail...
