  •  Romney could Convince the MSM that NY is Toss-up (14+ / 0-)

Let us face it: the journalistic standards are now what they used to be. What else explains why and how a Presidential candidate can fail to release his tax returns and run a campaign of complete deception?

GM and Chrysler have done a better job of calling out Romney lies than the MSM and their cable allies!

the "toss-up" talking point, especially in light of the swing state polling.  But I guess they have to do something to keep interest up.  For my money, some analysis would keep interest up, not just dumb horse-race stuff.

Because even though the margin is wide, they can often argue that it is still inside the margin for error and thus a tossup...despite the fact that multiple polls, averaged out, as Nate does, sustain the data documenting an existing gap

Because they continually ignore the Electoral College and instead look for polls seeking to measure the two candidates in terms of popular vote.  That is much closer than most swing states so....Horserace!!!! (even though the popular vote will NOT select the winner.)

And of course because, you want to keep viewers by making them think that it is a race to the finish and razor thin all the way.  You don't want viewers who think the thing is already over.

Hey...I see it here every day on the innertubes.

I have given to progressive candidates, so I get their e-mails asking for more and almost invariably, they are telling me it is neck and neck and they need my money right now.

In many cases, the polls actually show them with a commanding lead, but they need the narrative that it's really really close and every donated dollar right now is the difference between life and death.

I don't blame them for trying, but it is clear what is happening and why.

Free markets would be a great idea, if markets were actually free.
