    ...of evolution is the issue.  The two main themes to this question of survival are climate change and nuclear contamination.  There are probably more, but these are the ones which loom large for me.

    Climate change we can see in the storms, like Sandy, which become more frequent.  Nuclear contamination is not visible, so it is more insidious, easier to deny or minimize.

    But noone knows when the accumulation of radionucleides in our environment will reach a level of genetic, DNA damage which will make reproduction and continued existence no longer viable.  I assume we have not reached that point yet, but I don't know for sure because there is no quantification to use as proof.  And the results of radiological accumulation do not necessarily manifest for generations.

    There are probably many more technological advances  which, in our arrogance and rush for profits, also pose a threat to survival.

    This is evolutionary.  Our incredible technological accomplishments mandate the evolution of our spirits and souls to match.

    This is where Mrs. Misanthrop becomes Pollyanna.  I try, hopefully, to point to the general direction of what seems to me to be the lessons required by evolution.
