  •  Not that it needs pointing out (9+ / 0-)

but I wanted to link to the diary at the top of the rec list right now. It refers to the jubilee that OWS is working on.  You might already know about it from other sources, including some things we've posted here during the past week.

Why can our elected representatives not come up with solutions like this?  When you read about this solution, though it is clearly not a permanent solution but it provides tremendous relief for those who benefit from it. Yes, their credit has already been ruined because this debt has already been written off. Yes, these blood sucking predator collection agencies should not be able to buy that debt for pennies on a dollar and then sell it for more. THAT is something our govt. should protect us from and hopefully the CFCB and people like Elizabeth Warren will help with. But why has nobody else come up with this solution before?

Good on OWS. Smart people with good hearts who are really trying to help.  It makes you realize just how little that others are trying to help real people.

When you ditch the attitude against people who have low income or people who are down and out -- when you stop blaming them and try to help them, a lot can be done. Amazing!  Once again, OWS shows the way.

I'm so glad that they are helping people.  They are helping people keep their homes from foreclosure. Now helping people not be saddled with debt.  One of the things that gives me some hope is that maybe they will help some of the young people who are, right out of the gate, burdened with crippling debt. How can you start your adult life when you're carrying around so much debt, mostly from student loans in an economy where you can't get a decent job?

Diary: Buying Debt - What OWS has been up to

One more thing.  This is another example of OWS showing up the supposed left grassroots organizations, exposing them for being the bought and paid for status quo mostly useless organizations that they have become. Not all of them, but too many of them.
