  •  Is it the "other?" Oh, maybe, sometimes (15+ / 0-)

The NYT will plead history, much as the GOP does. Indeed, given a stretch of time, one can find Democratic party shenanigans that have carefully screened out voters, even after 1965.

The run-off laws in the south are designed pretty specifically to guard against a black candidate. However, such a global -- actually orbital -- view is precious. It's true, but it's not warranted, especially when the GOP uses "they were mean to Bork" to justify reasonless hold ups of judges, "I heard that Chicago voters show up after they're dead" and "NIXON shoulda won!" as justification for very real disenfranchisement, and their heroic legal theory is that "voters don't care who funds the TV commercials -- they're just glad to hear the truth."

These moves, this orchestrated campaign, is a concoction of a group with a heightened sense of victimhood, a belief in legends, and a rejection of fact. THIS is about corporations and plutocrats coordinating the feckless to achieve the unimaginable.

If money is the root of all evil, then what is Mitt Romney?
