filled out the ofa emails to go to iowa. never heard anything. had to seek out and find (on my own) the gotv bus going to iowa...then go on my own to iowa the following weekend when the bus people didn't call me back. last week, i got the email about "volunteer in wisconsin and get credentials for the election night rally at mccormick place"... again, i responded (as did another chicago friend). we heard nothing. he even got a text that "our assignment was coming" ...then nothing. so called kenosha and went to canvas on our own this weekend. the entire kenosha office was chicago people doing the same thing. not sure how many on their own, how many gotv, or moveon...in 2008 the chicago gotv was amazing to behold. they called a dozen times a day and got us where we needed to be (lake county) and poll watching election day. this year, i can only hope that the emphasis has swung to swing states or the chicago campaign is overwhelmed with more people than they need, casue they left two of their most active 08 volunteers on the ground and on their own this season. didn't stop us, but still it was concerning. i am glad to hear gotv is in 08 form elsewhere -- to those in the same situation as me -- just call a nearby swingstate office and go. all the numbers are on the website...

pull down the menu to pick a state, then click on "find offices" on the left hand side...
