Baggers' view is that America shall be run how a few wealthy, rural Anglo-Saxon landowning men purported to have intended for it to be run.  Any other view is prohibited and wrong.

'purported to have intended for it to be run'  so well put - what would John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, who both died on July 4th in the same year, have made of the baggers?  They were both very literate and expressive gentlemen, it might be a really good historical/alternate novel to have them come back and critique America today ;)

its that they think that not only should we all blindly follow "the Founders" is that what they really mean is that we should blindly follow only their interpretation of what they think are the views of said group of long dead men.

They love their little gods on their pedestals. Don't you dare tell them they were just humans. Sure, humans with some good ideas, but they knew they were building a country with huge internal contradictions. The compromises are well documented.

And shhh! They have no idea who Thomas Paine was.

      •  Equally shameful is that they ignore... (0+ / 0-)

the contribution of great American leaders who just happened not to be living white men in 1789.  Just to name a few, Abraham Lincoln, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Earl Warren, Lyndon Johnson, Warren Burger, Martin Luther King Jr. and Elizabeth Cady Stanton have all played at least as great a role as any Founding Father in making the United States what it is today.  But because they weren't around when Jesus presented the Constitution to his other chosen people (presumably both the whole people and the 3/5 people), they don't count.

      •  The Founding Fathers didn't even intend that. (0+ / 0-)

They didn't expect that we would do things exactly as they did them.
