  •  HKonJ = Historic Thousands on Jones Street (9+ / 0-)

HKonJ is a coalition of over 120 partners of human and civil rights organizations, labor, peace and justice groups, healthcare and education advocacy groups, LGBT, immigrant rights, and environmental protection organizations, churches and civic groups, voter protection and campaign finance reform groups, etc. In short, the whole progressive activist community in NC.

Every February, HKonJ organizes a march and rally on our legislature. Jones Street is where the NC General Assembly is located. We call ourselves the People's Assembly and demand that our representatives pay attention to the People's agenda, not to special interests. HKonJ organizes lobbying events and protests. Rev. Barber and other coalition partners get arrested on a regular basis with the regressive legislature we have right now in Raleigh.

Truly awesome. Every state should be so lucky to have such an organization. They need an "about us" on their website.

Thanks for the response and the diary.
