  •  Republicans aren't fiscal conservatives (7+ / 0-)

    not for a long while anyway. Reagan & Bush II ballooned the budget and the debt. While deriding "tax and spend" liberals, they practiced "borrow and spend". The former was an exaggerated claim, but it sounds a lot more more fiscally responsible than the latter, no?

    Mindless tax cuts and deregulation and militarism do not lead to a good place.

      so I was around for much of the evolution of the "tax and spend" liberal meme. I was not nearly as well informed back in the late seventies and eighties, but I don't think I gave either party much credit for being fiscally conservative.
