thrown at me over the years, but sometimes it is a single thought, like an arror, that pierces the facade.

My thought was, "...but I thought Republicans were the party that believed your home is your castle, so why do they have an opinion on my personal life?!"

I grew up reading Ayn Rand.  My father and brother are both teahadists and I was just as rabid as them back in the day.

So yes, it can happen, just that way.

Corporations are not there to serve their customers, they are there to make a profit for their investors.  If it is 1 cent more profitable for the product to KILL you than to fix the problem, they will let the product kill you.

Yes, evil does exist in the world and some corporations may not have your best interests at heart; I'm sure we can find a non-profit in the same category if we looked hard enough.  But most people are smart enough not to keep doing business with companies that do not treat them respectfully; there is your checks and balances sir.  Are you guys really this naive!  There are thousands of companies that are thriving because they treat their customers as they should be treated.  To make a blanket statement like "corporations are not there to serve their customers" is simply silly at best.

Serving customers is a means to an end.  The end is profit.  A corporation exists to make a profit, first and foremost.  If that means not telling you that there are adulterants in your food, then they will not, unless the cost of not telling you is higher than the cost of telling you.

Who is the naive one in this discussion?!

And I am a woman, so you can call me Ms. or Ma'am or "hey lady."
