because he is betting on an Obama victory and wants access.

    •  You're wrong. It was too good, too powerful (4+ / 0-)

      too true to be insincere.

    •  I don't know (7+ / 0-)

he has been pretty vocal with his disgust with the unethical behavior coming from the Republicans. It's sick and wrong and Matthews knows it.

I'm pretty tired of being told what I care about.

    •  Don't agree. If anything Chris is an old time (7+ / 0-)

moderate/liberal R. If I recall, that's his family's history in PA. Now he feels his party has left him - not just left him, but morphed into something he does not recognize.

He really hates the wingnuts. He is a social liberal, and likes strong people who are not afraid to show their pride in this country.

He sometimes overlooks the things we find off-putting. He seems to admire Giuliani because of 9/11.

He's an old fashioned flag waver and in his case, it seems to come from his heart.

Over the past couple of years I've watched him seem incredulous over the statements coming from the Rs. At first I don't think he believed these comments.  Then he may have thought they were outliers.

In the last year or so I think he accepted the fact that the direction of the R party was way over the cliff.

His full awakening may have really started with the birthers. I've seen him get incensed whenever he hears any references to Obama not being a good American.

I will be watching the rerun of his show to see his "Let Me Finish" segment.

It’s the Supreme Court, stupid! Followed by: It's always the Supreme Court! Progressives will win only when we convince a majority that they, too, are Progressive.

was and is Republican, but he worked for Carter and Tip O'Neill and adores JFK.  His one vote for Bush was an aberration.  He practically begged people to vote for Obama in '08, and he clearly supports Obama now.

forget that he worked for Tip and work a book about JFK.

Oh, yes, he was also in the Peace Corp.

    •  haven't seen it (0+ / 0-)

and it's possible I'll change my mind when I do, but I don't really expect much from Matthews. He's a pretty typical Villager/media type IMHO.

He's sometimes right, sometimes wrong, but always a blowhard. Add an overdeveloped sense of irony and you've basically got Bill Maher.
