These aren't the founding fathers we're talking about here, more like to slave overseers and their ilk. What todays rednecks want is a retrun of their superiority over brown and black humans. It don't matter how we 'talk' to them it's their hate that fucks things up.

I hope you'll read my longer comment below to see where I'm coming from.

America could have chosen to be the worlds doctor, or grocer. We choose instead to be her policeman. pity

    •  So it was ok for the founding southerners (0+ / 0-)

to own slaves, because they were better human beings? My point was that you can't completely demonize ANY group, because ALL groups have their faults, including men most people here revere, like Jefferson, Madison, Henry, etc. If you do the "Yes, but" thing for some, you have to do it for ALL.

Personally, I don't know any southern "rednecks". I do, though, know northeast bigots, of various backgrounds, and they're the ones I have a hard time talking to about politics because they're prejudiced and, well, kind of stupid about politics.

I doubt I can ever make much headway with them based on my experience with them. However, a smart and talented politician skilled at talking to people and having insight into the core values of what this country was founded on might.

Even they know deep down it's not only about guns, freedom and "I got mine".
