not racism. Racism is a sustained,  deeply entrenched structural preference for one group constructed over long stretches of time that confers inherent privileges on said group. Prejudice is harassment on ethnic grounds. I'm not disputing that this may have been a traumatic experience for you, but American whites like you and me really have no idea what it is like to experience actual institutional and cultural racism because of white privilege. Whatever our individual experiences, our appearance and cultural attitudes are regarded as the default in this country because of its history of white supremacist racism in all geographical areas (not just the South). Note that I am only saying this about the racial aspect of your experience and I acknowledge that as a woman you are the victim of institutional and cultural sexism.

Was having a mom take her 4 year old trick or treating. I love Halloween, so I go all out. She got 3-5 feet from me,  stopped, grabbed her son and said 'never mind, that bitch ain't got nothing for you, she's white'. This was in California. So racist to teach your children skin color is all or not?
Prejudice I understand, I also know racist when I see it. This was not an isolated incident.
