Bexar County Dems have been squabbling for some years now...but they seem to be getting their act together now...and the Castro brothers with their new national prominence are really energizing and inspiring.

Reaching the vast numbers of latino voters will be a major project. The Tea Party and GOP will certainly be trying hard to woo them with the Catholic/social conservative appeal (Save the Fetuses!!!!). Hopefully, the more common-sense approach of taking care of the post-born will appeal to many more. And the unmistakable charisma of Julian and his brother will be enormously helpful.

I was in Charlotte and then flew to Los Angeles after the convention...people across the country (quite literally!) told me how much they just LOVED our Mayor. These were people in really unexpected places so I was really encouraged.

The energy is sure high here in Bexar County and the surrounding areas...Pete Gallego's victory in CD23 was a big boost too.

If we can harness that energy and keep it going, we'll get to a purple Texas soon...and have it going blue soon after.

But boy we need to get people engaged over the long haul.
